Who cares about graphics, so long as it plays good? I mean, really, eyecandy is nice, but the game needs to be good, not just look good.

Story = part of gameplay, IMO. My point being, it needs to do more than look pretty, and story is part of a good gameplay atmosphere, after all.

Zelda doesn't reuse the same setting, they constantly update and rehash the characters spanning several generations.
Not one Zelda game is alike, although the plot is the same.

Well, the gameplay changes somewhat, but the characters remain the same, with the same personality, the same basic formula of 3+7 dungeons, and the some core gameplat, so I can't see how they don't, TBH

Re: Favorite Game Of All time?
You haven't played Zelda then. -__- The 3/7 was only used in Link to the Past / Ocarina of Time. The 3 are mainly used to unsheathe and power the Master Sword, and thus throw Link into the Hero of Time.
Characters that stay the same: Link, Zelda, Ganon. Your 3 major characters. Ganon doesn't appear as the main Villain in all of the Zelda games, nor does he appear in all of them. Same for Zelda. You have Nightmare (Link's Awakening), Onyx and Veran (Oracle of Seasons/Ages), Vaati the Wind Mage (4 Swords / Minish Cap), Majora, and Dark Link (Zelda II)
Zelda 1: The ground-breaker that started it all. 8 dungeons, started it off.
Zelda II - The Adventure of Link: Side-scrolling innovation, great difficulty and challenge. The only true "RPG" of the Franchise. 6 dungeons before you fight Dark Link.
Link to the Past - Revolutionized the SNES, made it extremely popular. 3+7 Formula used, but had immense likability and replay value. Also named in many gaming magazines as one of the best games of all time. Ganon isn't known to be the main villain until you reach the Dark World.
Ocarina of Time - Revolutionized the Nintendo 64. Last time 3+7 Formula used, and really established the Zelda plot and put everything into motion. Story kept you involved for hours. Named the best game of all time in numerous magazines. Every magazine named it the best N64, ever.
Majora's Mask - Put Link in a brand new world without Zelda or Ganondorf, and brought a new image to Zelda. Although it only had 4 dungeons, it had a ton of replay value. Also named one of the best games of all time. Last one for the N64, and only made in two years? Epic.
Wind Waker - Put Link in yet another world, the Great Sea. Ganon doesn't appear until midway through the game, and Zelda is not introduced until near the end. Link must conquer 3 trials, obtain the Triforce Shards, defeat the Guardian of the Tower before even setting foot in Hyrule. After getting the Master Sword, he must return his power using two temples. Fights Ganon, the rest is History.
Twilight Princess - One of the first games for Wii, if not the best game for the Wii. Really gave an impressive display of the controls, and the first feel for the games to come on the system. Link travels between the Twilight Realm as a wolf, and Hyrule as a human making the puzzles unique, and adds to the story. Ganon is not even a forethought as the Villain until the end. 3 Temples to get Master sword, 3 to obtain the Mirror Shards, Twilight Realm, Final Showdown with Ganondorf.
Yeah, I don't really see Final Fantasy doing that. -___-

Re: Favorite Game Of All time?
Ill give you zelda and zelda 2, but after that, there are differences
A) Twilight princess used 3/7 too
B) all of them do the same villian fake-out
C) even with Vaati in the picture, ganondorf is very apparent. oracle of seasons + ages were meant to be one game, then 3 games, and it shows in the ending, which showed the objective to be...the ressurection of ganon
D) Each one has had the same basic gameplay, and gameplay types.
Now, as far as FF originality:
The original FF had 6 chars to choose from, with a simple magic system and a DnD-esque feel. 4 temples to beat, then you fight chaos. simple
FF2: had a vastly different story of rebellion. every character could learn everything, and there was no skill distinction between chars, and no classes. No real constancy in there in terms of story, as it was rather turbulent. Very popular.
FF3: ok, so this was like a boring FF5.
FF4: introduced dynamic characters that many got attached to, and introduced unique classes for each character. Class changes occured as the result of storyline, and The game itself centered much more on the chars themselves.
FF5: Class system introduced, with a unique way of learning and using techniques. Follows 4 dungeon theorem, but a bit more extended. Many lesser dungeons and the like along the way. blue magic introduced, allowing people to use the abilities of monsters. new battle system introduced, making speed a factor in battles, and allowing them t obe a little more real time. Plot had a nice story to it, and graphics improved
FF6: ATBS went through more renovations, making it even batter. introduced a cast of 13 with incredible unique abilities for each char. added in predecessor for limit break. Does NOT follow 4 dungeon series, and added magicite, which is more or less included in some of the ff's afterwards. Much more hidden content included, and special dungeons and the like were made specifically to allow people to understand characters backstory better.
Original? right her?
On another note, i played through twilight princess. 3, followed by the faux ending, followed by 7 more dungeons.

Re: Favorite Game Of All time?
You need to replay Twilight Princess again, there wasn't even 10 dungeons in the game. -___-
Obviously, your understanding of Zelda is off. Zelda: ALttP and OoT were the only ones to use the 3+7 system. Not all of them do the "Villain fake-out" you mentioned. Link to the Past, Seasons+Ages (For Complete Game), and Twilight Princess only had it. But that's for plot thickening.
Graphics aren't really a factor in originality, nor does it affect gameplay really. .__.
Not to mention that the Class system you speak of was adopted in earlier games, as well every other element of RPG in Final Fantasy. Therefore, it's not original.
Actually, after thinking about it... not even Ocarina of Time uses the 3+7 formula. -__-
Young Link:
Inside the Great Deku Tree
Dodongo's Cavern
Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly
- Retrieve Ocarina of Time / Master Sword
Adult Link:
Forest Temple
Fire Temple
Water Temple
Shadow Temple
Spirit Temple
3 for Young Link, 5 for Adult Link.
I don't necessarily consider Ganon's Castle a Dungeon, because it's fairly simple and short enough not to be considered a Dungeon.
Disproves another point of your's.

Re: Favorite Game Of All time?
well, that is because you are not considering ganons castle, but really, you counting it or not doesn't disprove my point. Its close to the same storyline, in new settings and some other chars added, which is what FF does, yes, some of the gameplay changes, but it stays the same at its core(Though i will say zelda 2 is an exception)
The items and the like tend to be the same, and the gameplay is fairly static, both in methods and the like. The dungeons nearly always have a few distinct themes, some puzzles to solve, and a boss at the end. Yes, there are MINOR differences, but the game stays the same. I have played zelda since i was little, and i can predict whats happeneing quite often
now
-OOT had a faux ending when ganon took over, after you getting the master sword, which had many players believing the final confrontation was at hand
-ALTP and Twilight princess, as you said
-after confronting Ganon on the wind waker, you also expected to be able to take him out with your master sword, and get pwned
now, at the same time, yes, there are original bits in LOZ. there are original bits in FF too, but the core is always there. THis is because its a tried and true system, and it's what draws the fans. I tend to prefer this to many other games who changed too much in the sequel and made a crappier game as a result.
As well, there are limits, and ff8 onwards i stopped paying attention for a reason, the repitition got bad.
Yes, classes came up earlier than final fantasy, but it expanded on them and gave them a unique feel. There were also top down games before LOZ, and that in no way invalidates the gameplay feel.

Re: Favorite Game Of All time?
Legend of Zelda all the way, I don't care what you people say
And twilight princess had the following dungeons:
Forest Temple, Death Mountain, Water Temple, Arbiters Ground, Snow Mansion, City in the Sky, Temple of Time, Twilight Temple and Hyrule Castle.
So count again, that makes 10, and as far as I know, 10 is more than 6.
and Tigre, wow, your avvy is really cool, did you draw that character?
